GPCI for Nov 26th, 2005 release at the LCBO

Hi GPCI fans,
Here we are again. Before the Vintages catalog is out you can see the wines to look for in early Nov. enjoy.

* * *

Canada
2002 Cave Spring ‘CSV’ Chardonnay $30
Worth the money! This high quality Chardonnay can compete in the “big league”. See additional notes under my Niagara wineries visit review (under Cave Spring) at http://gpci.blogspot.com/2005/09/gpci-niagara-peninsula-wineries.html

2002 Jackson-Triggs Proprietors’ Grand reserve Merlot $23.95
The 2002 Grand Reserve series are excellent. These wines can usually age for at least 5-7 years. I would go for 2-3 bottles.

Argentina
2003 Norton Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva $17.95
WS – 87 ; good value red wine from Argentina. a "straight-forward" Cab Sauv.

2003 Norton Malbec Reserva $17.95
WS – 90 ; now to 2007; Great value for such a highly rated wine. I would recommend buying at least 3 bottles.

Chile
2003 Casa Lapostolle ‘Cuvee Alexandre’ Cabernet Sauvignon $31.95
WE – 90 – WE- “Intense and saturated, with dark aromas of pencil lead, tree bark, cola and black fruits. In the mouth, it's full-force Cabernet. The blackberry and black cherry flavors are pure and satisfying, while the finish offers smoke, chocolate and coffee. This wine features ripeness and an overall quality rarely achieved by others in the price range."

2003 Casa Lapostolle ‘Cuvee Alexandre’ Merlot $31.95
WS – 90 ; WS- “Ripe and smoky, with lots of plum and blackberry fruit supported by dark cocoa. Rich, fleshy finish. A crowd-pleaser for sure. Drink now through 2006”

2003 Casa Lapostolle ‘Cuvee Alexandre’ Syrah $33.95
WS – 91 ; I had this wine in Chile and it worth every penny. It is an intense multi layer, peppery-spicy wine. Drink now to 2007.
If you need to choose from the 3 Casa Lapostolle, go with the Syrah.

Australia
2002 Penfolds ‘bin 128’ Shiraz $29.95
WA – 90 ; Drink now until 2012.
I had few Bin 128 before and it never failed – very consistent when it comes to “complete taste” and excellent quality Shiraz.
Great GPCI (less than 3).

2002 Penfolds ‘bin 389’ Cabernet/Shiraz $35.95
WS – 88+ (will probably improve in the future). Wine Companion suggests - Drink now until 2022 (!). A GPCI lower than 2!!! Get 2 for the cellar.
Bin 389 has often referred to as 'Poor Man's Grange' or 'Baby Grange,' and like Grange this wine exemplifies Penfolds' skill in balancing fruit and oak.

2002 Penfolds ‘bin 407’ Cabernet Sauvignon $29.95
Wine Companion – 91; Drink now to 2012+ a great GPCI again less than 3.
Another powerful red. Will probably need bit patience in the cellar.

France
2001 Chateau Roquetaillade La Grange $20.95
A good value Bordeaux. Can probably be cellared until 2009-10.
